Release notes 6.10

The latest updates to your POS, in plain language. Worth a read with your team.

New features

Simple Storage Mode

A simpler way to get started with stock handling. It's made for businesses that want to keep track of their stock without setting up suppliers first.

All storage functions are now in one place: open your own storage and do everything from there.

How to set it up:

  1. Turn on the licence. Simple Storage Mode is a new licence. When it's turned on, a main storage for the whole business (the Root Storage) is created for you.
  2. Add a storage for each company. Tick "Add Storage" on the company. If only one company uses stock handling, turn on "Use Main Storage as Company Storage" instead. Then you don't need to copy anything.
  3. Add your articles to the storage. Tick "Create StorageArticle" on an article, and it's added to the main storage automatically. From your own storage, you can also copy articles from the main storage, either a whole product group or one article at a time.
  4. Optional: keep product groups in sync. Link a product group to a storage, and new articles in that group are added to the storage automatically.
  5. Start counting. In your company storage, choose "Start working with Stock handling" and enter how much you have in stock and what it cost.

Good to know:

  • If the cost is already known, for example from the parent company, it's filled in for you. You can still change it.
  • A stock count list (inventory journal) named after the storage is created for you, and you can reuse it every time you count. Want a separate list for a product group? Tick "Create separate inventory journal" on the product group.
  • Don't use suppliers? Turn on "Ignore Supplier Articles" on the company. Purchase prices are then taken from the article, and all purchase orders are treated as coming from the same supplier.

New report: Article purchases to stock

See which articles have been bought in to stock, with purchase prices and totals. You can filter by date, company, storage, supplier and product group.

Scheduled images on customer displays

No more changing the customer display images by hand. You can now plan which images show and when, and add several images that play in a loop.

How to set it up: create a schedule and choose:

  • where it shows: all displays, one specific display, or a cost centre
  • a priority
  • when it starts: date and time
  • when it ends (optional): date and time

The overview shows the image that's on now, what's coming next, and all planned schedules. If two schedules overlap, you get a warning and can choose to replace one, keep both, or let the priority decide.

OPEN Order

Order now, get it on a later day

Guests can now order for a later delivery or pickup date.

  • The order shows up in the cash register's order overview (Kanban) on the day it's due.
  • A new list in BackOffice, "Open Order Orders", shows all incoming orders for later days.
  • Accounting: On the day the order is placed, the payment is booked as prepaid. On the delivery day, it's counted as sales, with the correct VAT.

Automatic payment and reminders for orders on a later day

Customers can now be charged automatically for orders placed for a later day, or get a reminder to pay before the ordering deadline.

How to set it up:

  1. Tick "Allowed for automatic payment" on the customer. If you tick it on a parent customer, it applies to all its sub-customers too.
  2. Choose which payment method to charge in the setting for automatically charged future orders. For now, only payment methods of the type "Open" (payment methods you set up yourself) can be used.
  3. Choose how long before the ordering deadline the reminder email is sent.

At the deadline, orders are either charged or cancelled, depending on your setting. Customers who can't use automatic payment get a reminder to pay before the deadline.

Also new:

  • Order confirmation email in English, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish. It shows what was ordered and has a link to change or pay for the order.
  • The ordering deadline follows your opening hours. For example, if you're closed at weekends, orders for Monday must be placed before Friday's deadline.

For canteens

  • Weekly menu and news: add a weekly menu and news posts in BackOffice. Guests see them in OPEN Order and get a notification when there's something new.
  • Faster everyday ordering: fewer clicks for guests who order the same thing every day.
  • Subsidies: canteen subsidies now work in OPEN Order.

"Sold out" items stay on the menu

When an article is out of stock (Ministock is 0), it stays on the menu but is greyed out with a "Sold out" symbol. If there are only a few left, guests get a warning when they try to order more than there is.

Easier OPEN Order setup

  • The OPEN Order settings are now sorted into clear groups: Activate, Delivery and pickup, Payment, Future ordering, Staff access, Order validation, Loyalty, External order handling, and Menu/Article. Settings that are no longer used have been removed.
  • The layout menu is now called "External Cash Register Layouts". Its settings are grouped by whether they apply to Express Checkout only, or to both OPEN Order and Express Checkout.

At the cash register

Easier to fix printer errors

When something fails to print, a printer symbol with a number now shows at the top of the cash register. You no longer need to look for "Wrong printed tickets" in the menu.

Click the printer symbol to see everything that failed to print, sorted by printer, with a preview of each ticket.

From here you can:

  • Retry all failed tickets with one click.
  • Redirect single tickets, or everything from one printer, to a printer that works.
  • Clear the list.
  • Mute errors from a specific printer.

The list is cleared automatically at end of day.

Allergens shown in the POS

Allergens are now shown in the cash register, OPEN GO, Express Checkout and OPEN Order. Long-press an article to open the article information and see its allergens.

The allergens are taken from article filters of the type "Allergens".

Age limit on product groups

You can now set an age limit on a whole product group, for example 18 for beer. All articles in the group get the same limit, so you don't have to set it on each article. If an article has its own age limit, that one is used instead.

Better discounts with reason codes

Reason codes now come in two types:

  • Sale Breakage (for example a dropped plate or a spilled drink) works on all articles, even those that can't normally be discounted.
  • Sale Discount works like a normal discount: it only applies to articles that can be discounted.

Also:

  • Only percentage and amount discounts can be linked to a reason code.
  • The discount now shows in the cart.
  • Reason codes can be set in "Edit group of articles".

New settings

Both settings are turned off by default.

  • "Send tickets to kitchen printer when parking an order": kitchen tickets are sent when you park an order.
  • "Open cash drawer on Register change amount": the cash drawer opens when you enter the change amount, both at login (if "Force change amount" is on) and from the menu option "Register change".

Smaller changes and improvements

  • When you move articles that haven't been sent to the kitchen to another table, you're asked if you want to print kitchen tickets.
  • Removed default ingredients (for example "no onions") now show in the cart.
  • All add-on groups show in the article view, even when there are more than 4.
  • The add-on pop-up no longer opens if none of the add-ons cost extra.
  • New "Select all" checkbox in the cart, the sub bill and the large cart view.
  • When refunding a payment that wasn't made by card, you can choose how much of the tip to refund.
  • You can enter a B-price (a second price for the article) when you create an article with the article wizards.
  • You can turn off several sales price list items at once with bulk edit.
  • You can sort the sales report by any column.
  • The article sales report in the cash register always lists product groups in the same order.
  • Sales groups that are turned off are marked as disabled in the Layout Editor.
